Oh wow! Have finally fully recovered from the "pain" of taking part in the WRX challenge. Well enought to complete my daily jog, hehehehe. Seriously it was tiring and my back and right hand were aching. To put it simply ..... what the heart wanted ..... the brain and the body said "NO WAY!". If you ask me whether I want to take part next year, I will definitely say that I will want to, but I will have to put in extra preparations. Didn't think that putting your hand on a car for 6 hours straight was very hard. For those who think that it's easy, you go and try it next year. Standing for 6 hours straight for a measly 5 minutes break is quite difficult. Firstly, seeing how your whole body is aching and you want it to be massaged. Secondly, you got to replenish the energy that you lost by eating and/or drinking. Lastly, you seriously need to go to the loo. I lasted a mere 13 and a half hours before throwing in the towel. I guess I disappointed a couple of people, but seriously, I could not take it any longer. When I dropped out, I wished Andy and Melissa the best of luck. Two days later when I came back, for the finale, there was only one lady from our car left and the other 2 guys were still standing strong at the Invitational car (Winner gets a WRX tuned specially by STI!!!). Paiseh to all friends and families who turned up to support me but I was no longer there.
Moving on, I swung by Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza yesterday with my Oly camera to take some photos. I ended up being like an information counter with foreigners asking me what the heck was going on and how long they've lasted. I guess standing with my camera there, they thought I was an official or something, hehehehe. They were quite surprised to find out that none of the contestants had any sleep at all. There was this one Korean lady, who asked me several questions and I helped her to snap several photos of the 2 guys at the car. I didn't quite expect anything from her, but she gave me a keychain from Korea. That was pretty cool, :)
After 73 hours, 56 minutes and 21 seconds, all of us watching were quite shocked to see Johnny (graphic designer) lift his hand and concede defeat to Alex (Naval officer). I need to thank Mark Richmond from Mediacorp for allowing me the opportunity to come into the venue and take a closeup photo of the car which I took part in. Thanks a lot!!!
Went and made my new NRIC at SIR Building this morning. After the third reminder was sent, hehehehe. On the way home after making my NRIC, heard from Vernetta Lopez over the radio that the runner up walked away with seven thousand bucks. Not bad, but I guess it's a small consolation as compared to the car. Better that than nothing at all I say. As they say, there's always next year. I have already managed to rope in several people, you know who you are, for next year's challenge! Let's see which family member will be the last one standing with the car ya!
